All our unit trust funds have continued to perform well through the past quarter. As clients would know, we managed to avoid the carnage in the investment markets that occurred as the coronavirus pandemic swept the globe in the first quarter. We felt that the hit to the world economy would most likely cause a severe recession which typically is bad for company earnings.

As fundamental investors we believe there is a relationship between what companies earn, cash flows, and the valuations of those companies. Because of this, we felt that it was prudent to be conservative with our client’s money through the quarter; not sitting on our hands, but taking a more cautious approach, seeing the current investment markets as more of a five-day cricket game rather than a T20 game.
